Goals
Create an app for car racer.
Rent cars and tracks.
Build a platform for the community.
The Challenge
Create an app for the street racing niche.
The Solution
Create a social app that also makes available track and car renting for people to race.
Research
Street racing is best know and cheered for drifting, a skill, a sport and also considered reckless driving. People who love to customize their cars and practice driving stunts, usually get penalized by doing it in public spaces.
Drift Fan
Wayne
A drift fan who’d love to drive a car that can help him learn how to drive sideways in high speed.
Needs
A powerful and drift ready car.
A track to go burn some rubber.
Pains
Doesn't have the money to invest into a racing car project.
Can't learn the craft through racing videos.
Values
A place specifically designed to learn and race.
Trust and devotion.
Drift Pro
Spencer
A drift car racer who loves to meet with other motorheads and practice car stunts.
Needs
Places to create racing events more often.
To spend time with the community.
Pains
Social media groups have all over the place content.
Street racing is illegal.
Values
Racing car events.
To spend time with people who like loud exhaust pipe noises.
Ideation
The ideia behind the app is to offer a safe space for people to go and burn some rubber, either they have their own machine or need to use someone else's.
HOW MIGHT WE...
HMW engage the community?
HMW help grow legalized street racing?
HMW give people the opportunity to practice racing skills?
HMW prevent overcrowded tracks?
The Brand
Traction is anchored on the concept of the force used to generate the motion of a body in relation to the tangencial surface, and named after this physical process.
design & Development
Referencing back to video game interfaces, and mixing it with car renting app designs, I designed the main screens for the app features: the feed, the profile, the car and the track choosing screens.
Final Thoughts
This concept was fun to design, however, it is lacking interactions and animations. It can be picked up again in the future to be complemented or redesigned for a more dynamic visual impact.
